50th Anniversary Celebration

The Sisters of Mercy celebrated their 50th anniversary in Honduras this week. Since Casa Corazón is one of their bigger projects we had the party here. First there was a formal service in the main casa. The photo on the right is Miriam who works in our house and Mauricio.

Everyone had to get dressed up for the service so the boys and I are all in our best cloths. L-R Maynor, Jaime, me, Mauricio and Jonathan. Milton is in the next photo on the right.
.

After the formal part, everyone went to the park/play area where we had a lot of performances by the kids and one by the adults. Big tent to keep the guests out of the blazing sun. On the left, some of the kids waiting for the shows to start.

L - Mauricio
R - David, Carlos, Isaac, Jovel and Ester doing their dance routine. Ester was a little nervous at first, but she got more into it a little later.

The workers were forced to do a traditional Honduran dance also (I mean forced!) L-R: Nilda, Nancy, Miriam, me, Meche, Alba, Mama and Prof. Pedro.

The older kids enjoyed dancing in the park to blasting music. The gate was open to let the neighborhood kids in also. A Michael Jackson imitator showed up and entertained everyone lipsinking and dancing to several songs.
